Back on the mainland, spend your afternoon exploring the historic stone ramparts of the Jaffna Fort and browsing the local Jaffna Market.

Then, board the legendary highland train at Nanu Oya or Ambewela station for a breathtaking, world-famous 3-hour rail journey over high-altitude valleys and through mountain tunnels into the alpine paradise of Ella.
